Position Description:
As a Cloud Data Engineer on the Client Data team, you will help shape PIMCO's data architecture
Summary:
- Build data pipelines and data models to support Analytics, Business Intelligence and Data Science use-cases
- Build revers ETL pipelines to make data warehouse data available in operational systems
- Design, develop and maintain the warehouse, automate manual processes, optimize data delivery for reporting and re-design infrastructure for greater scalability
- Collaborate with other technology teams to source data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL, Airflow, DBT, Fivetran and Python
- Research data questions, identify root causes and interact closely with analysts and other engineers
- Define and build metadata and data quality rules associated with data pipelines
- Integrate solution with data governance tools
- Contribute to advancing the team's design methodology and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with BI engineers, data engineers, product managers and data analysts to assist with data-related technical issues, migrations, upgrades and infrastructure needs.
Position Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of the Snowflake ecosystem
- 3+ year experience designing highly scalable ELT/reverse ETL processes with complex data transformations, data formats including error handling and monitoring.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field from an accredited college/university
- Experience with projects relating to cloud modernization, data migration, data warehousing in enterprise space
- Cloud Certification (AWS) would be advantageous
- Strong programming skills using Python, SQL
- Source control tools such as Git
- Solid understanding of database design, architectural principles and methodologies
- Ability to work independently, with attention to detail.
- Strong decision-making skills, problem resolution, negotiation, and decision-making skills
- Effectively communicates technical actions and expectations to the appropriate partners
