Business Unit Overview:
BlackRock offers a range of investment products-equity, fixed income, liquidity and alternative investment-each managed by a dedicated investment team of portfolio managers, research analysts and traders. Focused portfolio management and proprietary research are the cornerstones of our investment philosophy, and portfolio construction is based on each team's market outlook.
The Global Credit team offers an array of liquid and private credit products designed to meet specific client risk and return profiles. The Global Credit business manages assets across Leveraged Finance, Multi-Strategy Credit, Liquid Alternatives, and Private Credit.
The US Private Credit business is over $20 billion of assets under management and is part of the Global Credit team. The US Private credit team is focused on providing innovative financial solutions to primary US middle-market companies. The US Private Credit team has been in the middle-market lending business since June of 2000 and has one of the longest direct lending track records in the business.
Role description
As the Vice President of Liability Management you will partner with senior level portfolio managers and investment professionals with numerous mission critical deliverables to lenders, clients, BlackRock management, Product Strategy, legal, and compliance matters. Reporting to the Head of Portfolio Construction in the US Direct Lending team, you will have the important responsibility to structure, negotiate, maintain, and portfolio manage leverage facilities. Additionally, you will develop a fundamental understanding of credit investing to ensure the information from investment professionals and portfolio managers are accurate and reliable. Your work and dedication will directly result in the overall success of the firm and fund performance. You will gain invaluable hands on experiences and work in a collaborative environment that rewards hard work and innovative thinking. The ideal candidate will look for solutions to complex problems and be motivated to find solutions to better any and all processes and procedures.

Key responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Senior Portfolio Managers and other portfolio managers, to structure, and execute a variety of bespoke lending facilities
- Contribute to the ongoing strategic development of a front-to-back financing platform focusing on mitigating operational risk and positioning the business to scale
- Interact on a daily basis with external relationship managers, investment bankers and asset-structuring professionals at a variety of financial intuitions including banks, asset managers and insurance companies. Maintenance of these relationships on an ongoing basis.
- Assist in the onboarding of new lenders and managing credit facilities across the platform, including but not limited to:
- Sourcing documents internally for new mandates launching (constituent documents, tax forms, etc)
- Working with lenders on negotiating and finalizing legal documentation and other related documentation
- Manage the day to day of the leverage facilities which includes but not limited to:
- Identifying assets through investment pipeline to optimize leverage facilities
- Portfolio managing leverage funds by recommending trade amount for funds
- Working with investment team to add assets to approval-based leverage facilities
- Maintaining borrowing base files on a daily basis
- Compiling and reviewing monthly compliance and distribution reports.
- Sourcing investment and collateral information from the respective businesses internally and sharing such with lenders
- Answering other day to day credit facility questions both internally and coming inbound from lenders and other 3rd parties
- Develop and preserve partnerships with internal and external legal counsel
Skills, experience and education:
- 7+ years' experience in financial services, knowledge of credit investments or alternative investments required
- Experience in liability management or CLOs
- Experience in Direct Lending a major plus
- CPA and/or CFA Level 2 or 3 candidate a plus
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Numerate, responsive with high attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and work well within a small- team environment, but also shows potential to drive initiatives individually
- Motivated team player and flexible in approach with ability to work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; presents ideas in a clear, concise and constructive manner
- Execution-focused mindset while preserving basic risk-management principles
- Ability to prioritize, working to tight deadlines and flexible to meet workload
- Keen to question, challenge and improve
- A methodical thinker able to resolve complex issues daily
- Strong academic background
- Must be fluent in English
