We are seeking an Accounting Associate to join our PIMCO Income and Yield Services Group. This team provides income forecasts, accounting advice, and other services to internal groups and manages a PIMCO proprietary accounting/forecasting tool to monitor the forecasted impacts of investment activity for various PIMCO account types.

In this role, you will be responsible for adding business value and providing services that advise the most senior members of the firm, including the Executive Office, Portfolio Managers, and Key Account Managers, among others. You will be instrumental in helping to drive our process evolution, facilitate increased adoption throughout the firm, and evolve a critical business function within a growing business.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist in the administration and management of a proprietary PIMCO forecasting tool, with a primary focus on PIMCO's yield-sensitive strategies (Income, High Yield, Money Market, and Short-Term products)
  • Support the production of yield analyses and reporting of actual and projected income/expense/distribution accruals to a variety of stakeholders
  • Identify, investigate, communicate, and resolve data anomalies and projected vs. actual differences
  • Research and communicate possible accounting implications of new/proposed financial instruments/strategies
  • Ensure accurate and timely daily NAV, ledger, and sub-ledger accounting data from third-party custodians
  • Review daily ABOR to IBOR reconciliations and ensure all third-party custodian data is within expectations
  • Conduct extensive vendor due diligence to ensure processes and procedures are set up and adhered to
  • Support all change management and fund event activities, including implementation of new regulations
  • Coordinate various projects related to technology, process improvement, and new business integration


Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
  • 2-5 years of fund accounting experience in investment management and/or public accounting
  • Experience with fund accounting operations, which may include analyzing fund performance, NAV calculations, transaction processing, security valuation and reconciliation
  • An understanding of mutual funds and fund accounting, with exposure to a broad range of fund structures (including accounting systems)
  • Knowledge of fixed income and other financial instrument accounting, especially income-related accounting
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles for fixed income products
  • Exposure to other asset types such as equities, derivatives, and securities
  • Highly organized and a documentation advocate; process and quality control minded with ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Hands-on experience with data management and tools used to validate analyses, build projection models, and provide relevant insight into data (Excel, Bloomberg, Macro writing, Database queries, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills across a variety of communication methods
  • Experience providing exceptional internal customer service for demanding end users
  • Proven decision-making ability considering data risks and operational inefficiencies


Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with front office support/reporting, including forecasting for income/yield-oriented mutual funds with distribution targets desirable
  • Experience working in an outsourced model with oversight of vendor relationships
  • CPA or CFA designation
PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.

Salary Range: $ 73,000.00 - $ 94,000.00
